Corruption at best
What corruption has to do with the sword of Tipu Sultan? If you remember few years back Vijay Mallya bought Tipu's sword from British who looted it during their occupation ( Raj!). It was bought by this proud bangalorite for sake of pride for heritage of INDIA. But when it came to importing it to India he was effectively harassed by Indian custom official, how they don't wan miss this wonderful opportunity to earn for country ( or themselves??). They did not miss this proud moment for India and became part of the history by spoiling the occasion.
Now look at the contrast with another famous person belonging to same state where Mallya also belongs, it is Sunil Shetty. He possessed a four wheeler HUMMER for few years. Apparently the film star never paid for the custom and excise of this vehicle. So he could get this monster vehicle ( it looks like an army tank!) within country without anyone noticing or questioning. Obviously someone kept his mum for money! What else and someone later exposed it for not getting it or may be because there was that rare breed of officer who found the obvious fault.
Such a clear paradox makes one feel sad and angry. You kind of wanna disown your system. There is so much of weed to be removed, so much to be improved. We need a battalion of watchful soldiers fighting on this front where your own population will be your rival. I feel it will happen, we will achieve far more transparency and clean working.
Hope next time Vijay Mallya wont say that " I wont bring this Indian antique back home and rather keep it with me outside the country"
